Northwest pushed No. 14 Nebraska Kearney to the brink Thursday evening, but the Bearcats fell short in their upset bid 53-50.
The 'Cats (7-14) were down six with just over a minute remaining when senior Mia Stillman hit a three-pointer to cut the deficit in half.
UNK hit a pair of late free throws to extend it back to a five-point game. Molly Hartnett got to the hoop for a bucket in the closing seconds, but the Lopers ran out the clock before Northwest could foul again.
Hartnett finished with a game-high 19 points on 7-14 shooting.
McConkey was just behind her with 12 points going 5-10 from the field.
Stillman added nine points and six rebounds for Northwest.
The Bearcats wrap up the regular season Saturday at 1:30pm against Fort Hays State. Pregame on KXCV 90.5 and KRNW 88.9 begins at 1pm.
